Many metals and metal alloys have high strength, are easy to process and clean, temperature resistant and less sensitive to mechanical influences than glass. The consideration of economic aspects, such as the material price or availability, leads essentially to the selection of stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum alloys as materials for mechanical components.
